An ultrasonographic exam allows for assessing the uterine proportions and the appearance of the ovaries. The cervix, uterus, and adnexa in the child can be evaluated through an examination, using a finger placed rectally and the other hand abdominally, with the patient lying supine. Vaginal cultures should be obtained before the vaginoscopy. A liquid distention medium can be used for vaginoscopy to visualize the whole vagina and cervix. When performing an anesthesia examination, a lighted Killian nasal speculum and a fiberoptic scope (cystoscope, flexible hysteroscope) are useful for examining the prepubertal vagina. Visualization of the mid and upper vagina may be accomplished while the baby is in the knee-chest position but often requires a sedated examination and instruments. As the maternal hormone levels decrease, the labia majora lose their fullness, and the labia minora and hymen become thinner and flatter. The vaginal mucosa is pink and moist, with an acidic pH. The hymenal folds appear thick and redundant. Normally, the labia majora are full, and the labia minora are thickened. This examination is mostly performed visually, without the use of instruments. It is also essential to evaluate the hymen and the presence of a discharge from the vagina (fluor neonatalis). The gynecologist assesses the appearance of the vulva, the size and color of labia minora and majora, the introitus of the vagina, the color of the mucous membrane, and the size of the clitoris. Knowledge of normal prepubertal anatomy and the use of an accurate terminology are essential for describing and documenting anatomic findings. However, if these abnormalities are disturbing or unusual, the baby should be referred to a pediatric gynecologist for a proper gynecological examination and to a pediatric endocrinologist or pediatric surgeon for further examination and treatment. In most cases, the related changes are physiological. The neonatologist or the pediatrician is usually the first specialist who detects genital abnormalities in a little girl. Adequate feeding is also important with regard to development. In the neonatal period, it is crucial to instruct mothers of the proper hygienic procedures for girls’ genitals and of how to prevent diaper dermatitis. As far as health promotion and prevention are concerned, it is essential to take care of a baby girl’s health in relation to her future maternity since birth. There are, however, some disorders that are typical of the neonatal period. There are not many gynecological problems leading to abnormalities in later development that can be diagnosed in newborns. That is why they should be included in specialistic gynecological care, particularly in its preventive aspect. Girls with gynecological disorders constitute 10% of all gynecological patients. It deals with patients from the neonatal period until maturity. Pediatric-adolescent gynecology or developmental gynecology is separated from general gynecology because of the unique issues that affect the development and anatomy of growing girls and young women. In a broader sense, this medical specialty covers the entire woman’s health, including preventive actions, and represents the specificity of anatomical and physiological distinctness of sex. Gynecology (from the Greek word ‘gyne’ = woman) is the area of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting female reproductive organs (“woman’s diseases”). Harris and Ullman’s (1945) Multiple Nuclei Model reflected the patchwork of land uses for in the automotive city.įirst, many land uses require access to specialized facilities or locational amenities. Different land uses and economic activities tend to form around the city center in no universal concentric order or direction, but rather assemble according to the complex interaction of four primary variables. Observing this transformation, Chauncy Harris and Edward Ullman in 1945 developed their multiple nuclei model, in which they envisioned a polycentric (multi-centered), or polynucleated, urban form.Īccording to the multi-nuclei model, the city is composed of a number of sections, each with its own functional specialization. Cities that once had a very clear monocentric urban form began to evolve into a more complex patchwork of suburban centers strung along major road and highways. Homer Hoyt’s sector model of urban form (1939) Multiple Nuclei Modelīy the 1940′s, the automobile had begun to transform American cities, facilitating the broad dispersal of people into suburban enclaves ever further from the city center. Areas with high property values effectively excluded undesirable uses, such as heavy industry, from developing within that sector. Directional growth resulted in the sectoral partitioning of the city not only in terms of rents and land values but also land uses. High-income residential areas, for example, move successively outward from their initial location within the central city in a direction that maximizes their access to major transportation routes and recreational or scenic amenities such as water fronts, open countryside and commercial centers. Hoyt reasoned that urban growth must occur from the center outwards along particular corridors or wedges. The general pattern suggested that rent levels (and, presumably, land values) within each section of the city, like slices of a pie, were more similar than those found among concentric circles. cities did not usually vary by concentric ring, but rather by sections radiating out from the central city. Hoyt observed that rent levels throughout 25 U.S. Burgess based his concentric zone model on early 20th century industrializing Chicago.Įxpanding upon the Burgess model, Homer Hoyt in 1939 developed a sector model of urban form that considered direction as well as distance from the CBD. In the Burgess model, all urban development occurs from the central city outward. The three outer rings of the city were exclusively residential, with high-income residents most likely to live in the two outermost rings. According to the Burgess model, this zone was typically occupied by low-income residents and was likely to contain slums and other blighted areas. The second zone contained a mix of residential, commercial and industrial areas. This first zone was also where all major transportation lines converged. The first and most central zone, which included the CBD, was considered the heart of the region both in terms of commerce and culture. In the land use model developed by Ernest Burgess in 1925, the city was thought of as a series of five concentric zones radiating out from the center of the city, or the central business district (CBD). Models of urban form developed in the early 20th century emphasized a monocentric (single-centered) form. Ernest Burgess’ (1925) Concentric Ring Model attempted to explain broad patterns in urban development patterns. Here we take a brief look at a just a few of the models – the idealized and simplified representations of reality – that have been developed over the last 100 years to describe and explain the structures of humanity’s greatest artifiact: our cities. While cities have evolved, so to has our understanding of their form and function. – can vary significantly from one region to another, several urbanists have tried to identify and explain patterns of urban structure and urban growth at various points in time. While no two cities are exactly alike, and urban form – the arrangement or layout of urban land uses offices, houses, shops, roads, etc. Cities grow and evolve over time, forming patterns guided by an array of physical, economic, political, and technological influences. John Schuhmann is a senior stats analyst for NBA.com. For the second straight season, the Kings have allowed the second-fewest transition points per game (17.3). They’ll then have three days off before their tournament finale, Tuesday in Sacramento ( 10 ET, TNT). With San Antonio ranking last in transition points per game allowed (25.4), that could be an opportunity for the Warriors to run. But if the Warriors don’t find ways to run more, they’ll continue to make things tougher on themselves.īetter defense can lead to more early offense, but the Warriors are without the suspended Draymond Green for one more game - Friday’s In-Season Tournament visit from the Spurs ( 10 ET, ESPN). It’s still early - the Warriors are one of the toughest teams to guard in the half-court, and this is a veteran group that should figure things out over the long run. But 23 of those 28 points came from the bench in the final 15 minutes, after they were in a big hole. They scored a season-high 28 transition points in their loss to Phoenix on Wednesday, ending a streak of 12 straight games in which they were outscored in transition. Only 63% of their shots have come from the restricted area or 3-point range, down from 71% last season. Transition opportunities generally lead to better shots and, with fewer transition opportunities, the Warriors are getting less efficient attempts at the basket. But that’s down from 15.0 pass-ahead passes per game (third) last season. Curry has done just fine in the half-court, but both Thompson and Wiggins have registered their worst effective field goal percentages of the last 10 years.Īccording to Second Spectrum tracking, the Warriors rank 12th with 13.9 pass-ahead passes per game, so they’re looking to get the ball up the floor to a certain degree. In fact, Stephen Curry (from 4.9 to 3.4), Klay Thompson (from 4.8 to 2.5) and Andrew Wiggins (from 4.0 to 1.3) have all seen big drops in transition points per 36 minutes. But Poole’s transition points haven’t been distributed elsewhere. Paul, of course, is more of a distributor than a scorer.
Therefore, understanding the relative size and distance of the light source is essential in determining the quality of light. Download HitPaw Photo Enhancer 2.7.16. If the sun were closer, it would appear larger and emit a softer, more diffused light. For instance, the sun, despite being immense, acts as a hard light source due to its distance. Conversely, when the light source is larger than the subject, it results in softer light. If the light source is smaller than the subject, it produces a harder light. The hardness or softness of light is determined by two key factors: the size of the light source and its distance from the subject. Comparing Ellery under soft light to the previous scenario, we can observe the gradual shadow on her face and the barely noticeable shadow on the back wall.įactors that Determine the Hardness or Softness of Light On the contrary, soft light wraps around the subject, creating shadows with softer edges. Hard light casts distinct, well-defined shadows, as evident from the shadows on her face and the back wall. In the first Scenario, we have Ellery illuminated by a hard light source. To grasp the difference between hard light and soft light, let's take a closer look at two examples. In simple terms, hard light creates sharp, defined shadows, while soft light produces more gradual, gentle shadows. The quality of light is primarily determined by how it behaves, specifically whether it is hard or soft. Rather, we are referring to how light interacts with our subject and the visual effect it creates. When we talk about the quality of light, We Are not referring to its inherent goodness or brightness. I want to be able to save my maps with out having to screenshot them and have to edit them just to get a whole map. The biggest gripe I have with this is, how do you download saved maps? There’s no way to save them to a device of any type. So that really bummed me out as it’s more work on my part to incorporate them into the maps I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make. but no fungi? That is a main staple of the underdark. I want to be able to make underdark maps and there is a bit to be able to make them like lava, crystals, and chasms. I would like to see a bit more verity with this. It still felt rather limiting with what was offered. While there is an okay selection of things to chose from, as I was able to create a tavern with what was on hand. I love the art style used for everything and after playing around with it to make a basic map, it’s easy to use after you get the hang of the weird menu layout. I basically just downloaded this to make maps, and so far I really like it a lot. Bad, it only has cobblestone, wood, and brick (locked without subscription), and the floors are okay, there’s plenty of options, except you can’t use the dock without a subscription, even tho I’ve used it before, and where are the desert themed items, you have tomb things but not anything related to the most notable tombs ever? And no steering wheel or crows nest without paying, I know you need to get money to keep your app running but I would much rather watch an add every 30 mins than try to fight with not having a steering wheel or torches in my pirate ship, and don’t even get me started on logging in, I like the concept or having a rune password, but once I put it in it shouldn’t freeze and not let me in, and final thing, when I save a map that has water, when I go in to crop it to make print it on to pages, the water turns a light blue instead of the color I need, if you could fix these problems this game could easily rival any map making software If your looking for an easy map maker to throw some maps together this is perfect, but since the “free mode” it has gone downhill, there are things locked that shouldn’t be, torches, bookshelves, a lot of the plants. |
